Every local authority in Scotland has a Childcare Partnership that works to ensure that there's a range of childcare on offer.
There is also a Childcare Information Service (ChIS) in each local authority. They can give you high quality information about childcare in your area, including availability. They have information on nurseries, playgroups, childminders, crèches, out-of-school childcare and other support organisations.
If your child takes part in learning opportunities outside school hours, the chances are they'll do better in their regular classes. That’s the finding of the Impact of Study Support which looked at the impact of this type of learning on secondary school pupils.
All of Scotland's local authorities run learning activities outside school hours. The idea is to help pupils reach higher standards - as well as raising their self-esteem and confidence. For more information on after school activities, click here
