These bodies are an informal way for parents and teachers to communicate with each other. These bodies hold meetings to discuss areas of interest or concern, raise funds for the school and host social events.
Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) are partnership bodies between parents and teachers. Parent Associations (PAs) are similar – but without any teachers as members. The membership and responsibilities of PTAs and PAs are not laid down in law, so they can be set up in the way that best suits each school.
